Frequently Asked Questions
Can I apply for both federal and Victorian rebates?
Yes, you eligible customers can claim both the federal STC incentive and Victorian Solar Homes Program rebates.
Can I apply for the solar homes rebate and solar homes battery loan?
Yes, under the Solar Homes Program you can apply for more than one solar homes product. This means you can apply for the Solar PV rebate ($1,400), PV loan ($1,400) and battery loan (up to $8,800) under the program. If you opt in to apply for all three you will be required to complete two separate eligibility applications through the Solar Victoria portal.
How do I apply for the solar homes rebates?
Customers interested in participating in the Solar Homes Program will need to contact an authorised solar retailer for a quote.
EOC Energy (Retailer) will then upload your quote to the Solar Victoria Portal which will trigger the online process for your eligibility assessment. Once this is done, you will be able to apply for eligibility on the next rebate release date.
Do I need to get approval from distributor before I install a solar system?
Before we finalise your purchase and install your system we need to apply for approval from your Network Distributor. This is so that they can check the network in your area to ensure that you can safely connect solar and feed energy into the grid.
What happens to the power that I don’t use?
Most grid-connected solar systems are eligible for a feed-in tariff. A feed-in tariff (FiT) is a credit that customers receive for any unused electricity that their solar power system sends back to the grid.
What if I already have a solar system?
Early adopters who installed a solar power system prior to 1st November 2009 may be eligible to replace or expand the existing system. However, if you are one of the early adopters on a premium Feed-in Tariff we recommend crunching the numbers when considering replacing your existing solar system.
How soon should I apply?
Both the federal and state rebates reduce annually. We recommend applying as soon as possible to secure current rebate amounts.
